Please review the trip reports and videos from years past, they will help you know what to expect and prepare for.
Key Notes!
Extra fuel:
10 GAL! Snow wheeling takes a toll on the fuel, dont be that guy, go prepared for heavy fuel consumption.
LP/Propane gas:
If you plan to burn a tent heater, or portable fire pit (ill have mine) bring plenty of extra LP gas. I was shocked how much propane we used last year. i will be 45lbs deep on propane, and an extra 10gal of fuel.
Water and cold stuffs.
Remember it will be below freezing the entire time we are there. your jugs will freeze, your drink will freeze, and you will be out. Plan to keep liquids in your car to avoid this, plan your foods accordingly, and have a place to keep them. i usually use a simple food box or toat.
Gear/Clothes.
Remember it will be Sub ZERO at night. If you are planning on using your rig as a backup to sleep in. AND/OR use its heater. Go VERY prepared for that. they are made from steel, suspended in the air, and take a LOT of fuel to idle overnight. Dont be "That Guy" bring enough fuel. Your gear should be rated a 15* below anything you plan to expose yourselves to. sleeping gear included. Bring your sleeping setup, bring extra dry clothes, and a good attitude. There will be plenty of fun to be had, and learning opportunities along the way. that for sure!!
I will have the snow shelter up there, and i will be dragging my overland trailer. please, do not rely on it for your sleeping shelter! if your thinking you want to throw a caught up in there. please post that up below, there will be limited space. Cooking will be done outside.
Finally, Bring a good attitude, and a willingness to make friends, jump outside your comfort zone, and a big jar of patience with you. No telling how the weekend will go.
Be willing to Run SUB 5 psi in your tires, have an air compressor, gloves, boots, shovel, strap, and misc hand tool (just encase) The snow last year was impassable above 6psi. Even in my fully locked up jeep on 35" tires.
No stock rigs, please have a decent setup for snow wheeling. if you are asking yourself "will i make it in my X*X*X*" You wont, grab a seat, or wait for a more mild snow wheeling trip. This is for seasoned members.
we can start discussions below about sleeping arrangements, Joint foods/Meal Prep, and or any questions we may have.
Looking forward to seeing you out in the snow for the weekend. its my 1st trip of the year.
Take care guys!

alright, im going to change the meetup point to salem, still keep it at 6pm for Thursday. we will be headed towards the same area. my plan to to check the occupancy of the meadows cabin Thursday night. if it is open i think we should snag it. if not there is a camp right up the way at triangle lake. the horse camp. it should have plenty of space for us all, and is easily accessible.
the main group from nikson overland will be right up the road if you want to go check out the lake and/or say hi.
other than that, any suggestions on where to meet for dinner Thursday?
looking forward to the weekend still! take care all!
